Sarvam AI Launches Startup Program With Free API Credits

Sarvam AI is offering approved startups credits, direct engineering support, and launch visibility, with native support across 22 Indian languages and English as the core differentiator.

The Bengaluru-based AI company is offering approved startups credits, direct engineering support, and launch visibility, with native support across 22 Indian languages and English as the core differentiator.

Sarvam AI has launched a formal startup program offering early and growth-stage companies up to 12 months of API credits, priority engineering support, and co-branded launch amplification in exchange for building on its platform. The program targets startups working across speech, vision, and large language model applications, with Sarvam’s key differentiator being native support for 22 Indian languages and English, including code-switching, out of the box.

The program provides access to Sarvam’s full suite of production APIs: speech-to-text, text-to-speech, translation, chat completion, and document intelligence, covering extraction and classification. Startups also receive direct access to Sarvam’s engineering team, a meaningful offering for early-stage companies that typically struggle to get technical support from larger API providers. Credit allocation is matched to the startup’s scale and expected usage, covering a 6 to 12 month term with no rollover of unused credits after the program ends.

Sarvam positions its infrastructure as enterprise-grade with high-availability SLAs designed for mission-critical deployments, low-latency real-time streaming for speech-to-text and text-to-speech workloads, and scalable voice agent infrastructure capable of handling thousands of concurrent sessions. The developer experience is built around clean, documented APIs with SDKs, a playground, and quick-start guides, a deliberate effort to lower the integration barrier for startups.

Participation in the program carries one notable condition: approved startups are required to display “Powered by SarvamAI” branding in their product. Sarvam frames this as an ecosystem-building measure, visibility for the platform in exchange for subsidised access to infrastructure. The program is open to startups already using Sarvam APIs, who can apply for additional credits and priority support on top of existing access.

The launch comes at a moment of growing national focus on indigenous AI infrastructure. Sarvam AI, which recently participated in Goa’s state-level AI policy consultation alongside the IndiaAI Mission, is one of the few Indian AI companies building a full-stack generative AI platform with sovereign, India-built models. Its focus on Indic language support places it in a distinct position from global API providers, whose Indian language capabilities remain limited by comparison. For startups building products for Tier 2 and Tier 3 Indian markets, or for sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and education where local language access is essential, Sarvam’s infrastructure addresses a gap that OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic have not yet filled at the same depth.
