Sona has raised $45M in a Series B round led by N47 to expand its AI-native platform for frontline industries including hospitality, retail, and healthcare.<\/em><\/strong>

Sona, the AI platform for real economy businesses, has raised $45 million in Series B funding led by N47, with participation from existing investors Felicis, Northzone, Gradient, and Italian Founders Fund, bringing its total funding to over $100 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company raised $27.5 million in a Series A funding round announced in May 2024. This latest injection of capital marks a significant acceleration in Sona’s ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sona Technologies Ltd. is an artificial intelligence platform helping enterprises handle frontline labor operations at large scale. It uses AI-powered forecasting and scheduling for labor services, combined with a platform that enables core products in human resources, payroll and other business-critical workflows to handle business operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Real-economy industries from hospitality and retail to healthcare and logistics, represent hundreds of millions of workers and a multi-billion-dollar software market. Sona’s existing clients include brands such as Popeyes and Tao Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Co-founder and CEO Steffen Wulff Petersen noted that while every other enterprise software category has been transformed by AI, the tools managing the world’s largest workforce are still fundamentally the same systems built 20 years ago.

The old SaaS model delivered one-size-fits-all applications that companies had to adapt to. The next generation, Petersen argues, delivers the infrastructure and agentic layer that organisations build on giving them the power to create the exact software their business needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the hood, Sona uses AI agents to understand business context and translate it into real-time insights to help manage the workforce. It also ingests factors that affect real-time logistical outcomes such as weather, customer behaviour, road closures, and worker availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This completely removes the need for legacy time-and-motion studies, which are notoriously expensive and inaccurate, and drives up sales and customer experience while creating multi-million-dollar labour savings at a time of rising costs and competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sona recently launched an enterprise AI application builder called Forge that allows businesses to write custom software that is deployed and integrated with their data and the platform they are already using. This enables organisations to adopt best-in-class solutions for standard functions while building tailored software for the processes that make them unique.

N47 General Partner Matthew Cowan said that in a global market supporting billions of workers, AI represents a unique opportunity to replace outdated frontline tools and introduce a new way of operating for the real economy. He noted that Sona has built an end-to-end AI-native product for workforce management with the capabilities to become the operational foundation these organisations run on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funding will accelerate the expansion of Sona’s AI platform and fast-track its evolution into the operational foundation frontline businesses run on providing the infrastructure, collaborative agents and AI environment they use to power their entire business. The company is also targeting expansion into United States markets as a key near-term milestone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
