Goa has released its draft Artificial Intelligence Policy for public consultation, aiming to build a robust AI ecosystem focused on skilling, startups, and governance. Delivered in just 50 days, the policy reflects the state\u2019s push to become a technology-driven hub by 2027.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goa has released its draft Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy for public consultation, marking a key step in its efforts to position itself as a hub for emerging technologies. The draft was unveiled by Information Technology, Electronics & Communications Minister Rohan Khaunte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The policy has been prepared within 50 days, ahead of the government\u2019s 100-day commitment, following consultations with industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and domain experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the launch in Panaji, Khaunte said the policy is designed to be both practical and forward-looking, with a focus on integrating AI across sectors such as governance, tourism, and finance. He added that public feedback will play a key role in refining the final framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draft outlines a roadmap to strengthen AI skilling, support startups, and build innovation-driven ecosystems in the state. It also focuses on improving public services through AI adoption and developing infrastructure to support research and deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the proposed Goa AI Mission 2027, the state aims to leverage local talent, develop large language models (LLMs), and establish frameworks for safety and accountability in AI systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khaunte also said the government is considering restricting social media access for children under 16, while promoting AI-driven educational tools as a more productive alternative. The proposal is currently under discussion with stakeholders and may be escalated to the central government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draft AI Policy will be available for public review on the Goa Online Portal and the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications website from May 4, 2026, for a period of 15 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
