ICE said that the pricing level cannot be achieved with renewable energy and batteries alone.

The move comes as data center operators across Asia face pressure to secure both reliable power and green energy credentials. ICE’s Australian Renewable Energy Hub, located on the north-west coast of Western Australia, already holds environmental approval for up to 15GW of generation and four subsea cable connections into Asia, the company said.

ALSO READ: Google Cloud’s Vizag AI Data Center Gets Its Foundation Stone

There are three billion data customers living within acceptable latency of the north-west coast of Australia. By operating at the intersection of digital infrastructure and energy, AREH and the P2(H2)Node offer Australia a tremendous opportunity to supply not just green molecules to Asia, but up to 2.4GW of green compute at a price that is hard to match.
Alexander Tancock, CEO, InterContinental Energy

Tancock added that across ICE’s two Australian projects, 47 nodes could together support up to 9.4GW of co-located data center capacity. He said the company has seen early engagement from suppliers and data center operators.

The P2(H2)Node is a patented modular design that co-locates wind and solar generation with on-site electrolysis, eliminating the need for long-distance transmission. ICE said the architecture is now patented in more than 50 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Mauritania, and Namibia.

The company described the data center integration as targeting Tier 4-equivalent resilience standards. That classification, used in the data center industry, denotes full fault tolerance with no single point of failure. ICE did not specify whether an independent certification body has verified that designation for the P2(H2)Node design.

Founded in 2014 and based in Perth, ICE develops green hydrogen projects across Australia and the Middle East, with applications spanning aviation fuel, marine fuel, green iron, and green ammonia.

Disclaimer: This news is based on publicly available information.
