Anvil Robotics has raised $6.5 million in seed funding to simplify how Physical AI systems are built, aiming to replace fragmented robotics stacks with a modular, plug-and-play platform accessible to smaller teams.
Robotics startup Anvil Robotics has secured $6.5 million in seed funding to develop a composable platform aimed at accelerating innovation in Physical AI. The round was led by Matter Venture Partners and Humba Ventures, with participation from Supercharge.vc, Spacecadet, and Position Ventures.
Founder and CEO Mike Xia confirmed the funding news via a post on LinkedIn.
The company is positioning itself as a foundational layer for robotics builders, addressing a key industry challenge: fragmented and slow-moving infrastructure. Currently, teams working on robotics and AI systems often have to independently assemble complex stacks involving hardware, software, and data pipelines, an effort typically accessible only to well-funded labs.
Anvil Robotics aims to change this by offering a modular, plug-and-play ecosystem that integrates robot hardware, control systems, teleoperation tools, and data collection pipelines. The goal is to reduce duplication of effort and enable faster development cycles for startups, researchers, and smaller teams.
The platform emphasizes transparency and flexibility, avoiding vendor lock-ins and “black box” systems, while making advanced robotics infrastructure accessible even to smaller teams with limited resources.
With Physical AI gaining momentum globally, Anvil’s approach reflects a broader shift toward democratizing access to robotics development, bringing sophisticated capabilities within reach of a wider builder ecosystem.
