Google Launches AI Professional Certificate on Coursera

The self-paced program requires no prior coding experience and bundles three months of complimentary Google AI Pro for every learner.
Google has launched its AI Professional Certificate on Coursera, giving professionals worldwide a structured, job-focused path to AI fluency, paired with three months of free access to Google AI Pro, which includes Gemini, NotebookLM, and AI Studio. Announced on February 19, 2026, the certificate was developed to address a widening skills gap: new research from Google and Ipsos found that while 70% of managers consider an AI-trained workforce critical to organisational success, only 14% of employees have actually been offered AI training.
What the program covers
The certificate consists of seven short courses and a capstone project, totalling approximately 10 hours of content. It is entirely self-paced with no fixed deadlines, and no prior experience in AI, data science, or programming is required.
Google worked with the Burning Glass Institute and the Skills-First Workforce Initiative to identify the competencies employers value most. The curriculum is built around six core areas: communication, research, data analysis, content generation, planning and organisation, and vibe coding — building functional custom applications using natural language, without writing a single line of traditional code.
Through more than 20 hands-on activities, learners will develop skills across a wide range of practical workplace scenarios, including producing professional-grade images, videos, and presentations; conducting deep research to surface actionable insights; building data visualisations and infographics; turning goals into comprehensive project timelines; drafting communications for multiple audiences; and cleaning, analysing, and interpreting data for smarter decision-making. The capstone project results in a tangible portfolio that demonstrates the ability to apply AI tools responsibly in professional contexts.
Every learner who enrolls receives three months of complimentary access to Google AI Pro, which includes Gemini, NotebookLM, and AI Studio. This allows participants to practice with live tools throughout the course rather than relying purely on theory, building genuine hands-on experience as they progress. The offer must be redeemed by January 1, 2027, per Google’s terms.
Employer recognition and corporate adoption
The certificate has already been adopted by major employers including Walmart and Sam’s Club, Deloitte, Verizon, and Colgate-Palmolive, who are using it to upskill their workforces. This corporate backing positions the credential as professionally meaningful, relevant not just for job seekers but for employees looking to advance within their current organisations.
The program is the newest addition to Google’s Career Certificates portfolio on Coursera, which has surpassed one million graduates globally, with over 70% reporting a positive career outcome within six months of completion. Every Google Career Certificate now includes integrated AI training going forward.
How to enroll
The Google AI Professional Certificate is available now on Coursera, Google Skills, and Udemy. On Coursera, the standard subscription is INR 1699 per month and INR 3499 and INR 5199 for three and five months respectively. The course is $49 per month in the United States and Canada, varying by region. Financial aid is available for eligible learners. Upon completing all seven courses and the capstone, learners receive a shareable Google certificate suitable for LinkedIn profiles and professional portfolios.
The Google AI Professional Certificate is available now at coursera.org or grow.google/ai-professional.
