Razorpay, Sarvam AI Partner for Voice-Based Payments in India
Voice-based payments are set to expand digital commerce access in India as Razorpay partners with Sarvam AI to enable transactions in local languages.

Razorpay has partnered with Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence startup Sarvam AI to enable voice-based payments and shopping for Indian users, as reported by The Business Standard. The partnership allows users to complete transactions through spoken commands in multiple local languages. This aims to make digital commerce more accessible.
The collaboration combines Sarvam AI’s conversational models with Razorpay’s payments infrastructure. It allows users to browse products, place orders and complete transactions through voice interactions instead of navigating traditional apps or websites. The system processes requests within a single conversational flow, reducing the need for manual input.

The platform interprets user intent and executes the entire transaction process from discovery to checkout. Users can interact with AI assistants in multiple Indian languages, including Hindi and Hinglish, allowing purchases without typing or switching between screens.
Food delivery platform Swiggy is among the first to adopt the feature on the Indus App, where users can order meals by speaking to an AI assistant. A similar voice-based assistant has already been deployed on The Derma Co’s website, allowing customers to explore and purchase products through conversational interactions.
“Voice-based payments and commerce can help bridge accessibility gaps for millions of users who are not comfortable with traditional app interfaces,” the companies said in a statement.
Sarvam AI’s technology will also be integrated into Razorpay’s Agent Studio, enabling businesses and developers to build multilingual AI agents capable of interacting with users and processing transactions in real time. The development reflects a broader shift as India’s next phase of digital growth targets users less comfortable with English and text-based interfaces.
While adoption has expanded rapidly, language and usability barriers still limit broader participation. For businesses, voice-based commerce could simplify the buying process and expand reach in smaller cities and rural markets, positioning it as a potential driver of wider digital adoption.
