The integration lets employees complete routine HR and finance tasks inside Microsoft 365 without switching to the Workday platform.
Workday said its Sana Self-Service Agent is now generally available inside Microsoft 365 Copilot, allowing employees and managers to handle routine HR and finance requests without leaving Microsoft’s productivity environment.
The integration routes requests through Workday’s existing approval structures and role-based permissions. Employees can check leave balances, view payslips, update personal information, or look up company policies in natural language. Managers can approve timesheets, initiate performance reviews, and submit payroll input. Finance users can query expense and travel policies or check corporate card eligibility.
People shouldn’t have to jump between systems just to get a simple HR or finance answer. With our Self-Service Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot, Workday quietly does the hard work in the background, so answers simply appear where people already are.
Joel Hellermark, Sana general manager at Workday.
The move comes as enterprise software vendors push to embed business processes into the productivity tools workers use daily, rather than requiring separate logins and platform switches. Workday serves more than 11,500 organizations globally, including more than 65% of the Fortune 500.

For organizations already licensed on Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling the Self-Service Agent requires only a configuration step. The agent is available as a single app in the Microsoft Marketplace, with no separate login, new deployment process, or additional licensing requirement.
The integration aligns with Copilot’s design goal of reducing friction in workplace tasks. Employees can access HR and finance support in the tools they use every day, while organizations retain the same policies, controls, and governance they already rely on with Workday.
Srini Raghavan, Corporate Vice President of the Microsoft 365 Ecosystem at Microsoft.
They said user interactions appear as activity history in Copilot, while the underlying data and transactions remain within Workday’s platform. Every action respects existing organizational approvals and business rules. They also cited Direct Supply, an employee-owned healthcare supply company, as a customer building on the integration.
Our partnership with Workday is an important part of our broader AI-first strategy, helping bring key actions and insights into the flow of work.
Sarah Rolfs, Senior Vice President of HR and transformation at Direct Supply.
That follows a pattern of enterprise AI vendors using named customer references to signal production readiness ahead of broader rollouts.
The Sana Self-Service Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is generally available as of May 13, 2026, for eligible Workday and Microsoft customers. Workday has not disclosed pricing details specific to the integration.
Workday is headquartered in Pleasanton, California, and trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker WDAY.
