Nitin Bawankule will join OpenAI as Head of Enterprise Sales, India, bringing over 30 years of experience across AWS, Disney, and Google. His appointment highlights OpenAI’s push to accelerate enterprise AI adoption in India, focusing on scaling AI from pilots to company-wide transformation.

Nitin Bawankule is set to join OpenAI as Head of Enterprise Sales for India, starting mid-May, marking a significant leadership move as the company expands its enterprise footprint in the country.

Bawankule brings over three decades of experience across technology, media, and digital industries. Most recently, he served in senior leadership roles at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he led multiple industry verticals and worked on accelerating cloud and AI adoption in India.

Bawankule took to LinkedIn to share the update, outlining his plans to drive enterprise AI adoption and partner with businesses across sectors.

Prior to AWS, he was Head of Ad Sales at The Walt Disney Company, where he oversaw revenue growth across TV and digital platforms, including Disney+ Hotstar. Earlier in his career, he spent over eight years at Google, contributing to the growth of its cloud and digital ecosystem businesses in India.

At OpenAI, Bawankule is expected to focus on scaling enterprise adoption of AI across sectors. His mandate includes helping organizations transition from isolated AI experiments to company-wide implementation, embedding AI into daily workflows, and driving responsible, value-driven AI deployment.

His appointment comes at a time when Indian enterprises are rapidly exploring AI-led transformation, with growing demand for scalable, production-ready solutions.

Bawankule expressed optimism about making advanced AI more accessible and impactful for businesses and builders across India, as OpenAI continues to strengthen its presence in one of its key global markets.
