Tokyo-based Qureka Inc. has secured pre-seed funding from ON&BOARD Co. to expand Bookleverage, its generative AI-powered book Q&A platform.
Tokyo-based artificial intelligence startup Qureka Inc. has secured a pre-seed investment to accelerate the development of its generative AI-powered book platform, Bookleverage. The round was led by ON&BOARD Co.Ltd., a Tokyo-based venture capital firm specializing in seed and early-stage investments. The funding amount was not disclosed.
Founded in May 2025, Qureka Inc. develops AI-driven knowledge solutions aimed at making book content more accessible for business users. Its flagship product, Bookleverage, enables users to interact with book content through natural-language queries, allowing them to summarize material, extract key insights, and apply that knowledge directly to business challenges.
Moreover, the platform is designed with sustainability in mind. Qureka incorporates copyright protection measures alongside revenue-sharing mechanisms for publishers and authors, positioning itself as a responsible actor in an industry still navigating the legal complexities of AI-generated content.

According to the company, the fresh capital will support three priorities. First, it will fund the continued growth and development of Bookleverage. Second, it will allow the startup to expand overall business operations. Third, and notably, it will help Qureka strengthen its partnerships with publishers, a critical component of its licensed data model.
ON&BOARD Co., Ltd. describes its mission as unlocking talent across the world. The Tokyo-based firm focuses on seed and early-stage investments across a range of sectors, including AI agents, medical devices, robotics, dual-use applications, and nuclear fusion. By backing Qureka at the pre-seed stage, ON&BOARD is furthering its commitment to AI-driven innovation in the Japanese startup ecosystem.
The investment arrives as AI-focused startups continue to attract significant early-stage capital globally. In the United States alone, pre-seed investment volume has been climbing since late 2022, according to Carta’s State of Pre-Seed report for Q3 2025. Meanwhile, AI companies particularly those applying generative models to enterprise workflows are commanding increased investor attention well ahead of traditional milestones.
Qureka’s approach, however, stands apart. Rather than building a general-purpose AI assistant, the company has narrowed its focus to the intersection of licensed publishing content and enterprise knowledge management, a niche with relatively few established players.
