Anthropic India has appointed Sangeeta Bavi as Head of Sales, Digital Natives, Startups and Mid-Market. Bavi announced the move on LinkedIn, and Irina Ghose, Managing Director of Anthropic India, confirmed it publicly on the platform.
Bavi spent over a decade at Microsoft, rising to Executive Director for Digital Natives, reporting to the President of Microsoft India, where she scaled the business to over $220 million. She later served as Chief Operating Officer at YourStory Media before advising early-stage fund Seafund earlier this year.
Ghose said Bavi’s roots in the founder community and her instinct to build alongside them would be “instrumental as India’s startups move from adopting AI to building with it.”
Bavi, in her announcement, pointed to what drew her in. “As I got to know Anthropic, its people, its mission and its way of thinking, something clicked deeply,” she wrote. “India’s founders and growth-stage companies are not just adopting AI, they are building with it, scaling with it, and taking it to every corner of the economy.”
The hire comes as Anthropic expands its commercial presence in India, where it competes with OpenAI, Google, and AWS for the startup and enterprise segment.
