Gemini Veteran Rushin Shah Returns to Google

Shah, who previously led engineering on Gemini at both Google and Google DeepMind, returns to Google after a year as VP of Engineering at Resolve AI.

Rushin Shah has rejoined Google as Senior Director of Engineering at Google Cloud Applied AI. Shah announced the move on LinkedIn.

Shah brings deep roots in AI engineering. He spent over five years at Google across multiple roles, most recently as Director of Engineering on Gemini, before moving to Google DeepMind as Senior Director of Engineering for Gemini from November 2024 to June 2025. Prior to his Google tenures, he spent five years at Apple as Senior Engineering Manager for Siri Natural Language, and two years at Facebook as Senior Engineering Manager for Natural Language Understanding.

He left Google DeepMind in June 2025 to join Resolve AI as VP of Engineering, a role he held for a year before returning to Google.

In his announcement, Shah described the Google Cloud Applied AI team as being “at the forefront of AI-driven enterprise transformation, powering rapid business growth with Gemini Enterprise.” He added that the team is hiring engineers and researchers.
