Shivanku Misra Joins Marriott as VP, Data, AI and Emerging Technologies

Misra, who led AI and Automation globally at McKesson, joins Marriott in a newly created role overseeing the hospitality giant’s enterprise data, AI, and emerging technology capabilities across its 9,700-property global portfolio.

Marriott International has appointed Shivanku Misra as Managing Vice President, Data, AI and Emerging Technologies, a newly created global technology leadership role. Misra announced the move on LinkedIn.

Misra most recently served as Global Head of AI and Automation at McKesson, where he led enterprise AI and automation across the $400 billion healthcare distribution company. Prior to that, he was Enterprise VP of AI and Advanced Analytics at McKesson for two years, and VP of Advanced Analytics before that.

In his announcement, Misra described the scale of the opportunity. Marriott operates more than 9,700 properties across 143 countries and territories, 30 brands, and one of the world’s largest travel loyalty ecosystems through Marriott Bonvoy. “The opportunity to help enable technology, data and AI capabilities that support experiences for hundreds of millions of travelers globally is both humbling and energising,” he wrote.

Misra noted the role marks a return to hospitality, an industry he described as having shaped many of his earlier leadership experiences. He added that he will be hiring globally across all levels.
